University Theatre Dance Concert 2023

Student dancers and designers, in collaboration with Japanese Troupe, Masashi Action Machine, in a 2-Act Dance Concert.

Aleigha had the opportunity to costume design for a student-choreographed dance piece. The concept behind this piece was one dancer going through internal struggles, convinced her friends (the other dancers) are working against her, when they are in reality trying to help her. In the end, her friends succeed in pulling the main dancer out of her funk and she rejoins the group in peace.

Aleigha was inspired by color psychology to evoke certain emotions onstage.

Process

First steps:

created a mood-board based on info from the choreographer, thumbnails showing my initial ideas, then larger sketches showing the concept.

Aleigha was able to pull dresses from stock, and mocked up some arm pieces. Then after some fittings, she finished and dyed all the pieces.
